A Void Only God Can Fill

Genesis 1:1-2 “1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

Terminology Defined:

In the Genesis account, physical creation is executed from a state of formlessness and emptiness. From and through that point God began shaping and filling the void of expanse within the six-day creation. Our existence as humans begins with this creation and we are intrinsically connected to its nature, systematization, chronology, and schema.

John 1:1-2In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God.”

Biblically speaking, there was time in eternity past, where what we physically see in reference to nature, vegetation, and humanity, was physically non-existent. It was in the mind of God, but not yet manifested physically. So in essence and in formulation:

·        There was nothing

·        There was something

·        That something was partially destroyed (Genesis 6, Noah)

·        Then there was something newly created

To understand your nature and God-like quality, humanity participates in the process daily on one level or another in terms of child birth:

·        There was nothing

·        There was something (a baby in utero, from where?)

·        Through continued growth and socialization the child becomes partially destroyed, sin begins to have its impact and influence.

·        However the plan of God is for that which was partially destroyed to made new through the Spirit of God.

It is the pattern that has existed since the beginning of creation. Notice the nature and cycle of Adam, the first man to walk the earth. From a human perspective, he set the process in motion earthly, in connection to spirit relationship we are to have with God.

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

When Adam sinned he became void of his once held direct link to God. He lost part of his spirit connection with his creator and was thrust out of the Garden of Eden. From that point, every conscious person, pre-Christ experience and acceptation, remains void of direct connection to and with God. In the discipline of juries prudence (law) criminal acts committed without legally defined consciousness, can be excused under the defense of insanity. However, spiritual acts committed out of the unconsciousness of sane persons, is punishable by the judgment of God. In other words, if you are in your right mind and in rebellion refuse to obey God, without defense, their will be punishment by God in judgment.

Because of the act of Adam, he set in motion a spiritual void within all of humanity, that can only be filled by God. Because of his disobedience he created an element of life that can leave one without God actively present through His Holy Spirit, un-satiated.

The gospel purpose and goal is not the remission of sins, but life eternal. That is what Adam and Eve had, but lost. Within that, the forgiveness of sins is a by-product of accepting the message as the Word of God, which is God.

·        Matthew 7:13-14--Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

·        John 6:35--And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

·        John 10:10--The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

As a result of sin, pain, death, depression, sadness, hunger, thirst, malice, anger, wrath, disease, conflict, abuse, violence, murder, deceit, etc., exists in the world. These and such like elements create voids that only God can fill. Only the Spirit of God could create the world and fill Adam with substance. Only the Spirit of God can fill the truly empty places of men/women. Thus, after the money is depleted, the house old, the car out of style, the spouse out of shape, the ways of the children no longer cute, prestige overrated, parents deceased, welcome worn, honeymoon over, job monotonous, company being bought out, bones aching, sex drive absent, vision poor, bank account low, health failing, driven to drink, blood pressure high, food/pollen allergies out of control, flunking out of school, parents upset with you, consequences of drug abuse taking a toll, the void surfaces that only God can fill. Fill with what? The presence and indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
