The Other Seventy Training Academy

Goal/Purpose (Acts 14:21-23; Titus 1:5): The Other Seventy Training Academy provides a platform and training ground for a plurality of men and boys, striving to become preachers, elders, deacons, teachers, diligent servants, good men, and worship administrators within the West Oakland church of Christ, and kingdom in general. The intent of this ministry is to build leadership capacity. The training ground of biblical instruction, study, and fellowship act as a venue for leadership-based discussions and strategies for spiritual and congregational improvement. The goal is to train seventy Christian soldiers of the cross for church leadership and evangelism. All men in the congregation are charged with participating in this ministry to enhance fellowship, brotherly love, and unity among the brothers of the West Oakland church of Christ.

Procedural Structure: The fellowship sessions are based in conceptual biblical, yet informal, study, manhood dialogue, and unity building regarding leadership principles. The format is not scripted or didactic, but follows an organic flow so each session builds upon the previous, fostering an environment to meet current needs, based upon real time occurrences, events, challenges, and societal shifts. Participants will have opportunities to present studies and discuss biblical concepts. Time will also be spent investigating church behavioral dynamics, seeking to develop strong solutions. The qualifications, expectations, and roles of elders, deacons, and ministers will be a consistent focus of the training session.

Date & Methodology: The Other Seventy Training Academy meets the last Thursday of the month from 7pm-8pm in the home of Bro. Saheli.

Facilitators & Content: Dr. Saheli facilitates the sessions, but all men are responsible for cooperative input and dialogue.
