Christian Ingredients for Daily Life
Deuteronomy 6:5; Mark 12:30
Contained within the core of a
Christian is the deep ability to impact others in a transformative and transfigured
fashion. Christ refers to the powerful essence as being the Salt of the Earth
and Light of the World. Through the work of God and installation of the Holy
Spirit, the Christian saint is equipped with tremendous power. To make supreme
in terms of use, what God has given His elect, optimal capacity must be
employed. Moses and Christ spoke of similar tenets regarding how one must live
as an effective Christian. Moses said, “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God
with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might” (Deuteronomy 6:5). Jesus also articulated, “And
thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind,
and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment” (Mark 12:30)
Through the words of Moses and
Christ a few ingredients are revealed through the concepts of logos, ethos, and
pathos. All of the aforementioned conceptions can help describe the essence of
Christian praxis. From a Christian or biblical perspective logos is the
incarnate Word of God through Christ (John 1:1). Thus logos for the Christian,
is the bread of life that must be consumed for proper calculation and execution
in Christ. Ethos can be described as the character of the Christian that speaks
to his or her influence upon others. It is about more than pontificating a
relationship with Christ, it is about living a sacrificial life for Him. When
Christian ethos is legitimate, the Christian is seen as valued and worthy of
being able to speak about Christ because of how they live. Ethos is that which
is exuded toward another out disposition and character.
Logos and ethos remain connected
because logos is the source of a proper and effective ethos. Christians truly
admired by other saints generally have a powerful and infectious ethos or
disposition in Christ like that of Paul. When logos and ethos properly function
within the life of a Christian, a lasting result is the impact of pathos upon
others. Pathos is the essence of life that evokes emotion and touches the souls
of others. Through logos and ethos, Christians are able to transform the world
(touch the world) through their pathos. Study the ingredients and remember, You
