The Science of Christianity
Galatians
4:8-9
From a Greek
perspective and through the lens of the Christian experience, three words are
of extreme importance: Ginosko, Gnosis, & Epignosis. In looking at the
three words, the proper understanding of God is manifested and Christian
justifications for sin are nullified. Ginosko and its cognate gnosis are
related to a person experiencing God and learning from Him through the
encounters. Gnosis is
science, which equates to knowledge gained through observation &
experience. Therefore a time in life arrives where a soul has tasted and
handled enough of God to understand and revere His presence. To fail to do so
is the suppression of knowledge because knowledge is the consequence of
experience. The science of Christianity is revealed through the observation of
Christian experiences.
The ultimate result, that which
comes through gnosis, is epignosis; a crystallized and matured understanding of
God. After conducting the various lab experiments of Christianity, theoretical
formations and rhetoric are replaced with the facts of God and His reciprocity.
Some of the Galatian
Christians experienced God but ventured back to the land of sin, ignoring and
refusing to properly interpret and intuit God. Paul said “Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did
service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9But now,
after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to
the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”
(Galatians 4:8-9). Paul also discussed those who had a matured knowledge of God
but suppressed it to the point of reprobation: “And even
as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient…” (Romans 1:28).
The science of
Christianity requires that the lab work be engaged, observed, and made sense
of, so the true essence of God can be revered, loved, praised, and
worshipped. For the cause of Christ
follow the divine script of Peter, “…Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue
knowledge; 6And to knowledge temperance; and to
temperance patience; and to patience godliness…” (2 Peter 1:5-6).
