Gifted
1 Corinthians 12:4-11
At a lecture presented by the
nationally known Gospel preacher, Rick Hunter, an interesting, relevant, and
powerful biblical position was advanced. In essence, do you know what your
primary talent is? Are you aware of your primary spiritual gift? This has
nothing to do with performing the miraculous or earthly supernatural, it is
about what God has gifted you with for His Kingdom. Notice the words of Paul: “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the
same Spirit. 5And there are differences of
administrations, but the same Lord. 6And there are
diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to
profit withal. 8For to one is given by the Spirit the
word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of
healing by the same Spirit; 10To another the working of
miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another
divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit,
dividing to every man severally as he will” (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
A primary element in understanding giftedness in
Christ is gift identification. As was stated, Christians will be able to detect
their gift in Christ through the providence of God. Whatever the gift, the
child of God will have a desire to display, use, and share it. Not only will
God provide the desire, He will provide
the platform, arena, and avenue for the gift to be used. In addition to the
desire, the Christian will be provided with natural opportunities to use their
gift, absent from forced situations. If the gift is singing, God will bless the
individual with opportunities to sing. If the gift is encouraging, God will
bless the individual with opportunities to encourage. If the gift is
organizing, God will bless the individual with opportunities to organize
events. If it is preaching, God will bless the individual with opportunities to
preach.
The gift of the Christian is that thing that
he/she naturally and spiritually desires and God provides opportunities for. As
an example within my own life, God facilitated a desire within me to preach the
Word of God, followed by unforced and natural invitations to develop and
cultivate the gift. When God calls, He also gifts. Do not get caught failing to
use the gift God has called you to display and use for the benefit of His
Kingdom. Remember, you are the clay In The Potter’s Hands.
