Personal
Outlook: What Do You Perceive?
Numbers 13:33
From the wombs of mothers,
infants enter the world as blank canvases, ready to be exposed to the rich
beauty the earth has to offer. Nevertheless, the paint that narrates the
stitching of the canvas is not always beautiful. All people have a personal
outlook that shapes schematic perceptions of life circumstances. It explains
why two people can experience the exact same physical or psychological
conditions, yet walk away with differing interpretations. Humans have the
unique ability of coloring perspectives. One can elect to view a condition as
positive, negative, neutral, damaging, or helpful.
The Nation of Israel, God’s
Chosen-Milk-&-Honey-Promised-Land-Protected People, still decided to view
themselves as grasshoppers in comparison to the natives of Canaan. “And
there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we
were in our own sight as grasshoppers,
and so we were in their sight” (Numbers
13:33). God
assured them a victory, but psychologically, they believed themselves to be
inferior. What is your Personal
Outlook and What Do You Perceive?
Regardless of mental distortions, it is time Christians
begin believing what God already knows about His children. The Psalmist said, “I
will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul
knoweth right well” (Psalms 139:14). In the eyes of God, His children are
fearfully and wonderfully made. How many people live their lives with not just
knowing that, but living and trusting by it. When you know how you are made, one
cannot be a grasshopper.
Notice the words of the half brother of Jesus Christ: “For if any be a
hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural
face in a glass: 24For
he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner
of man he was. 25But
whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being
not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in
his deed” (James 1:23-25).
For those in Christ, do not forget who you are in Christ.
For those out of Christ, do not forget what Christ wants you to become. Do not
look in the mirror to simply forget your appearance. Remember, You are the Clay in the Potter’s Hands. God Has Paved a
Way to Save you Today.
