In the Potter’s Hands

Worshipping Through The Darkest Hours

Job 1:14-22

Just as David, Job was squeezed into a depressed and weakened psychological condition because of the loss of children and material wealth. Unlike David, Job was not punished because of sin, he was plagued because of his righteousness. Consider the suffering followed by blessed peace and restoration.

Everyone has faced or endured some form of calamity, yet never to the degree of Job. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, Job was sent personal telegrams of startling alarm, announcing the most tragic events imaginable. Job, while sitting in his home, was informed that his oxen and donkeys were slain, his sheep and servants were deathly consumed by fire, his camels were slaughtered, his servants were assassinated by the Chaldeans, and a house collapsed while all of his children lodged inside. His ten children died.

Four separate messengers were sent to Job with life-shattering news, but the events struck so quickly, before the first messenger finished his horrific news flash, the second messenger stormed through the doors with an announcement. In seconds, four messengers, reporting horrible news simultaneously, invaded the home and life of Job.

The first phase of tragic events in the life of Job would probably be enough to steer some people out of the church and away from worship and worship service. However, in his darkest hours, Job rent his mantle, shaved his head, “fell down upon the ground, and worshiped” God (Job 1:21).  Through Job’s internal and external trials he maintained a position and disposition of worship.  Because he continued to worship through his darkest hours, all of his plundered goods were returned and multiplied, coupled with ten more children (Job 42:12-14).

Life events must never separate the Christian from praise and worship to God. Even when Satan touched the physical body of Job with sores, which produced excruciating pain, he stopped and worshipped God for seven days straight in total silence (Job 2:13). Worship God! You are the clay In The Potter’s Hands. God has paved a way to save you today!
