In the Potter’s Hands

 by Dr. Saheli

LORD Make Me!

Jeremiah 18:1-6

Prophet Jeremiah was commanded by God to go down to the potter’s house. As he arrived he witnessed the potter in action. The potter created a first vessel, but it was flawed. He proceeded and made a second vessel and the result of it was perfection.

God wanted Jeremiah to understand that He could fashion Israel, man, woman, and even His church into perfection. God said, “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel” (Jeremiah 18:6).

Clay is a firm yet pliable material and through the process of hand massage and manipulation, it becomes soft, allowing the potter to create a perfect product. God is the potter and you are the clay.

What kind of clay are you? Have the hands and pottery wheels of the Almighty softened your heart?  Are you working with or against the hands of God? In the warm and tender hands of God are you hot or cold?

In Jeremiah 18:4, the first vessel represents what man/woman makes of themselves, but the second and perfect vessel represents what God crafts through salvation and the redemptive blood of Christ. Let the perfect hands of God mold, form, and fashion you into spiritual greatness.

Listen and obey God carefully. Watch for His visual messages, for through this process He will shape your life. The Master Potter is not simply shaping His children to seek His Kingdom, but also to vigorously seek His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Truthfully and symbolically, it is impossible for the clay to shape itself, the same way “...It is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). And someone said, “As the clay In The Potter’s Hands, LORD Make Me!” God has paved a way to save you today!
