The plea of God is simple. He urges all of his children to be strong in
Him and in the power of His might. The simplicity within the Gospel message of
Christ is distinctively crisp and without confusion. It is only through His
might and power that the Christian can make it through the wiles or
methodologies of the devil. That fallen angel of light known as Satan, Lucifer,
and the Devil is out to attack the Christian in several areas, yet one
specifically, commitment.
True enough, the devil does not have to work
as hard to keep non-Christians under his influence because if one is not with
God, whether consciously or consciously, they are in league with the devil.
However, Lucifer is constantly unleashing new methodologies to subvert and
supplant God’s children. The devil operates with all subtlety. He attempts to
work within a strategy that renders him illusory and absent, yet under control.
With the Christian, the devil attempts to chip
away at his or her commitment to service, study, and worship. Slowly the devil
works on the productivity and output of the child of God. Worship every Sunday
gradually turns into two Sundays out of the month. Weekly Wednesday night Bible
class attendance turns into a monthly affair; Prayer goes from nightly to
weekly; Bible study turns into a once a month event; Giving becomes something
done only when one has extra or a need for something; Fellowship becomes a used
ministry only when loneliness strikes.
The devil has many attacks and ploys, but
within the church he starts with spiritual commitment. Think about it. You used
to attend Wednesday night Bible class every week. You used to attend evening
service every Sunday. You used to fellowship, study, pray, and give regularly,
but now you can see where the devil has slowly entered your life.
God is urging for a renewed commitment. God said we wrestle not against
flesh, or blood. We wrestle against things we cannot see: Principalities,
Powers, Rulers of Darkness, and Spiritual Wickedness in high places. As the
